Letters and Post Season Awards:
Following the season an awards banquet is held in the Curtis Senior High School Cafeteria/Auditorium. It is a pot desert hosted by the water polo team parents. Please see Coach Pic if you would like more information about the banquet, or would like to help organize the banquet. The following are awards that might be earned.
JUNIOR VARSITY LETTER- A junior varsity letter will be given to players who participated on the junior varsity water polo team and finish the season in good standing with school and team.
VARSITY LETTER- Varsity Letters will be given to students who accomplish the following:
1.) Attend 100% of all team activities/ games/ practices with no unexcused
absences. Excused absences will be determined by the coach.
2.) Play in at least 50% of all Varsity Quarters.
3.) Be a positive influence on: Team, School, and Community
4.) Abide by all rules created by coach and team along with the athletic code.
5.) Finish the season in good standing with school and team.
6.) Letters may also be given at the coach's discretion.
TEAM CAPTAIN AWARD- Leads by example and supports the program, team goals, and coach.
MOST VALUABLE PLAYER AWARD - Combination of skill, work habits, team spirit and attendance. This award will be determined by coach and players.
MOST IMPROVED AWARD - Most improved starting from the end of the 2007 Curtis season to the end of the 2008 Curtis season. This award will be determined by the coach.
COACHES AWARD - This award will be determined by the coach
VIKING MAN AWARD - This award will be presented to the player who excels in school, team, and community event(s).
ROOKIE OF THE YEAR AWARD - This award will be presented to a first year player who had an outstanding varsity rookie year.
IRON MAN AWARD - This award will be presented to players who attend and complete ALL workouts, games, and events.
MOST INSPIRATIONAL AWARD - This award is presented to the player who inspires his teammates.
TEAMMATE OF THE YEAR AWARD- This award is determined by the athletes.
